POPIA Notice
1. Purpose of This Notice
Protea Reserve Co (Pty) Ltd ("Protea") is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"). This notice explains how and why we collect, process and store your personal information.
2. Information Officer
Protea Reserve Co has appointed an Information Officer responsible for ensuring compliance with POPIA. Enquiries may be directed to info@proteareserve.com.
3. Personal Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information: contact details (name, email, phone number), business and farm information, location details (province, town, district), production or buying requirements, and documents voluntarily submitted by you.
4. Purpose of Processing
Your personal information is processed for the following lawful purposes: to assess producer or buyer suitability; to respond to your enquiry; to communicate information relevant to Protea products and services; and to maintain records required for business operations.
5. Legal Basis for Processing
Protea processes your personal information on the basis of your consent, which is obtained through the consent checkbox on all submission forms. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting info@proteareserve.com, subject to any legal obligations requiring continued processing.
6. Sharing of Personal Information
Your personal information is not sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Protea may share relevant information with its affiliated divisions (Protea Wagyu Co, Protea Lamb Co, Protea Branded Beef, Protea Trading Co) solely for the purpose of addressing your enquiry.
7. Storage and Retention
Personal information is stored on secure, encrypted servers. We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose of collection, or as required by law.
8. Your Rights Under POPIA
You have the right to: access your personal information held by Protea; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your information (subject to legal obligations); object to the processing of your information; and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
